  • CS 418/518 Web Programming, Ms. Nasreen Muhammad Arif, Tuesday & Thursday 6-7:15 and online
Topics: MySQL, React, Express.js, NodeJS, MVC (Model-View-Control), Search Engines, GitHub
  • CS 432/532 Web Science, Ms. Nasreen Muhammad Arif, asynchronous
Topics: Python, R, D3, ML, and IR.
  • CS 725/825 Information Visualization and Visual Analytics, Dr. Michele C. Weigle, Monday & Wednesday 3-4:15 and online
Topics: Vega-Lite, D3, visual analytics, interactive visualizations, dashboard design.
  • CS 728/828 Deep Learning, Dr. Jian Wu, Tuesday 6-8:40
Topics: fully-connected neural networks, recurrent neural networks, convolutional neural networks, regularization, generalization, loss function, backpropagation, attention, transformer, graph neural networks, and deep reinforcement learning.

  • CS 795/895 Foundation Models of Data Science, Dr. Jian Wu, Monday & Wednesday 1:30-2:45
Topics: Concept, history, instances of foundation models and their applications in healthcare, biomedicine, law, and education; technology and capabilities as applied to language, vision, robotics, reasoning, search, modeling, training, adaptation, prompt engineering, evaluation, systems, data, security and privacy, robustness to distribution shift, safety and alignment, and interpretability.

Drs. Michael L. Nelson, Sampath Jayarathna, and Vikas Ashok will not be teaching in Spring 2025.  Non-WSDL members will teach the data science courses WSDL often covers, with Dr. Ashok Kumar Veerasamy teaching sections of CS 620, CS 624, and CS 625, and Dr. Dushan Wadduwage also teaching a section of CS 620.

The Fall 2025 semester is still undecided, but the following courses are likely:

  • CS 625 Data Visualization, Dr. Michele C. Weigle
