Old Dominion University library organized a workshop on Misinformation and Disinformation  (see video and presentation slides added in this blog) on Feb 23, 2023. It was two hours workshop session led by six professors, including Dr. Jian Wu , Dr. Sampath Jayarathna , Dr. Michele Weigle , Dr. Faryaneh Poursardar , Dr. Vikas Ashok , and Dr. Yi He from the department of Computer Science (CS). The workshop had more than 50 participants, including online and in-person. Each professor presented their research on Misinformation and Disinformation during this workshop. Earlier in 2021,  the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) announced a call for proposals  themed Role of Cybersecurity on Curbing the Spread of Disinformation and Misinformation and Disinformation . The theme was the role of cybersecurity on curbing the spread of disinformation and misinformation. Traditionally, cybersecurity was about solutions of protecting computers and information systems from information disclosure, damage of hardware, software, and electronic data. Recently,  many researchers realized that combating misinformation and disinformation (MIDIS) should be incorporated into the scope because MIDIS is also the delivery package of malicious attackers, whether intentional or unintentional. A photo of me inside "The Yellow House" - The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society On June 5, 2017, I started work as an Intern at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University under the supervision of Dr.  Rob Faris , the Research Director for the Berkman Klein Center. This was a wonderful opportunity to conduct news media related research, and my second consecutive Summer research at Harvard. The Berkman Klein Center is an interdisciplinary research center that researches the means to tackle some of the biggest challenges on the Internet. Located in a yellow house at the Harvard Law School, the Center is committed to studying the development, dynamics, norms and standards of cyberspace. The center has produced many significant contributions such as the review of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) and the founding of the DPLA (Digital Public Library of America).
