2019-10-31: Continuing Education to Advance Web Archiving (CEDWARC)

On October 28, 2019, web archiving experts met with librarians and archivists at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. As part of the Continuing Education to Advance Web Archiving (CEDWARC) effort, we covered several different modules related to tools and technologies for web archives. The event consisted of morning overview presentations and afternoon lab portions. Here I will provide an overview of the topics we covered. Web Archiving Fundamentals Prior to attending the event Edward A. Fox , Martin Klein , Anna Perricci , and Zhiwu Xie created a brief tutorial covering the fundamentals of web archiving. 2018-10-11: iPRES 2018 Trip Report

September 24th marked the beginning of iPRES 2018 located in Boston, MA, for which both Shawn Jones and I traveled from New Mexico to present our accepted papers: Measuring News Similarity Across Ten U.S. News Sites ,  The Off-Topic Memento Toolkit , and  The Many Shapes of Archive-It . iPRES ran paper and workshop sessions in parallel, therefore I will focus on the sessions I was able to attend. However, this year organizers created and shared  collaborative notes  with all attendees for all sessions to help others who couldn't attend many individual sessions. All the presentation materials and associated papers were also made available via google drive . 2017-03-07: Archives Unleashed 3.0: Web Archive Datathon Trip Report

Archive Unleashed 3.0 took place in the Internet Archive , San Francisco, CA. The workshop was two days long, February 23-24, 2017. This workshop took place in conjunction with a National Web Symposium , hosted at the Internet Archive, February 23 – 24. Four members of Web Science and Digital Library group ( WSDL ) from Old Dominion University had the opportunity to attend. The members are: Sawood Alam , Mohamed Aturban , Erika Siregar , and myself . This event was the third follow-up of the Archives Unleashed Web Archive Hackathon 1.0 , and Web Archive Hackathon 2.0 . @WebSciDL at @internetarchive after Archives Unleashed 3.0 wrap up.
