The Department of Computer Science (CS) at Old Dominion University (ODU) held its fifth annual Trick-or-Research event on Monday, October 31, 2023. This event is a collaborative effort from the faculty, staff, and students at ODU CS to spread awareness on their ongoing research and foster new collaborations. This year, the event was held in a hybrid fashion; participants were able to visit labs in the E.V. Williams Engineering & Computational Sciences Building (E&CSB) and Dragas Hall either in-person, or virtually through Gather.town . Adam Martin presenting his work at 2023 REU Final Presentation Session The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) offers practical learning and research opportunities for undergraduates concentrating on disinformation detection and analytics. Commencing on June 5th, 2023, this 10-week summer initiative takes place at Old Dominion University, hosted by the  Web Science and Digital Libraries (WS-DL) Research Group within the Department of Computer Science in collaboration with  Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center (VMASC) and the Department of Communication Disorders and Special Education. The REU program is funded by the 2023  National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduate Site . On August 3rd, 2023, the endpoint of this program was marked by the final presentations delivered by the six participating students. The 16th International Conference on Social Computing, Behavioral-Cultural Modeling & Prediction and Behavior Representation in Modeling and Simulation (SBP-BRiMS) 2023 was a hybrid conference with the in-person event at Carnegie Mellon University , Pittsburgh, and virtual attendees joining via Zoom. The SBP-BRiMS 2023 conference took place from September 20 to 22. SBP-BRiMS is a multidisciplinary conference with a selective single paper track and poster session. The conference also invites a small number of high-quality tutorials and nationally recognized keynote speakers. The conference has grown out of two related meetings, SBP and BRiMS, which were co-located in previous years.  Six members of the Storymodelers Lab and the Web Science and Digital Libraries (WS-DL) research group participated in the conference.
