  John Kunze presenting "Up and running with ARK persistable identifiers" JCDL 2023 ( main trip report ) featured a doctorial consortium , three tutorials and six workshops (including  EEKE  and  WADL ). John Kunze ( @jakkbl ) presented the first tutorial of the conference on “Up and running with ARK persistable identifiers.” ARK ( @arks_org ) stands for Archival Resource Key. “Persistable” is preferred over the more common term, “persistent.” Persistable identifiers of different kinds have been around for 20 years and are used for academic papers ( DOIs ) and infrastructure ( URNs and Handles ). These (sometimes expensive) persistable identifiers don’t always meet the needs of the average researcher today for projects such as in digital humanities. The 2023 ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL' 23)  was held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, from June 26-30, 2023. The first day started with Doctoral Consortium (DC) with a few other workshops and tutorials. The JCDL DC is a pre-conference event that allows doctoral students to discuss their dissertation work with other doctoral students and an international panel of professional researchers and scientists. DC aims to help Ph.D. students with their theses and research plans by providing feedback and general advice in a constructive environment. This year’s International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) Web Archiving Conference (WAC) marked the 20th anniversary of IIPC (#IIPC20Years, #IIPCWAC23). The conference happened in two parts, an online session, and an on-site conference . The online day was conducted first on May 3rd, 2023. It had eight sessions. During the online day, presenters talked briefly and answered questions from the audience. The presentations were pre-recorded and made available in advance for the attendees to watch. These presentations will be available to the public in July through the IIPC YouTube channel .  In this blog, we have summarized and reflected on the online day.
