The 21st ACM Conference on Document Engineering (DocEng 2021) was organized by the University of Limerick, Ireland and held virtually (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) from August 24th to 27th. This year, the conference received a total of 24 full paper submissions and 41 short paper submissions, from which 8 full papers (33%) and 20 short papers (49%) were accepted. This year's conference was sponsored by the ACM SIGWEB (ACM Special Interest Group on Hypertext and the Web) in co-operation with the ACM SIGDOC (ACM Special Interest Group on Design of Communication). Data Science is becoming the lingua franca of the 21st century as there are more data sources today than ever before. To prepare the younger generation for the world of data science and artificial intelligence, Dr. Sampath Jayarathna at Old Dominion University (ODU) in collaboration with the ODU Computer Science (CompSci) Department organized a 10-day data science summer camp for about 14 high school students in Norfolk, Virginia from August 9th to August 20th, 2021, funded by PRA Group Inc . The program was a hybrid of onsite and virtual training sessions. This program was an intensive training program intended to prepare high school students for working with different data sources such as structured and unstructured data like text data and images. The  ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Health Information (BCB) was held virtually, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from August 1st through August 4th, 2021.  There were 301 registered attendees this year.  For those that were not lucky enough to attend the conference, the conference proceedings are available online. This was my first time attending an ACM BCB conference.  It is the flagship conference of the  ACM Special Intertest Group on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Informatics (SIGBio) .  Although I did not get to travel to Chicago where the conference was originally planned to be held, the  CONFlux Virtual Platform  made it easy to attend the scheduled sessions and interact with other attendees.
